The Arrival
I decided to visit the Olive Grove Restaurant in Wimbledon, South West London. It’s located at 25 Leopold Road, Wimbledon, SW19 7BB, approximately a 13-minute walk from the station. On my way, I passed a Fish & Chip shop serving battered Halloumi, which definitely caught my eye — I thought I might visit that one day too. Once I arrived at my destination, I noticed that the restaurant was quite small, with only about four tables inside — maybe enough for 10 people. There were two tables outside as well.
When I got there, it was really busy. The lovely waitress who greeted me mentioned that they could bring a chair and I could sit outside, but it was a bit too chilly for me. I decided to pop back later. Luckily, there was a large Waitrose nearby, so I picked up a few bits and returned to the restaurant about 20 minutes later. To my surprise, it was empty! It was nice to have the place all to myself for a bit. I’d recommend arriving just after lunch, around 1:30-2pm, if you want to guarantee a seat.

The Sit Down
I chose the middle table and was quickly handed the menu. I was starving by this point (ha!) so I asked for a glass of tap water while I decided. I ended up ordering two pizzas — the Dell’Orto (loaded with vegetables) for £13.49, and a customised Margherita with extra mozzarella, which I think came to around £12.99.
While waiting, I noticed you could actually see the pizza oven from the seating area — I always love when you can watch your food being prepared. It adds a bit of anticipation while you wait (especially when you’re as hungry as I was!).

The Food
After about 10 minutes, the two tastiest-looking pizzas arrived at the table — and honestly, I have no idea how to describe food properly, but they were so good. If I had to pick a favourite, the mozzarella one just edged it, but both were amazing.
I started off eating with a knife and fork, but halfway through I switched to using my hands — it just felt way more comfortable ha. Sometimes you’ve just got to go in properly when the food hits right.

The Departure
The waitress was lovely and came over to check if everything was okay — I had no complaints at all. I wasn’t totally sure if they come to the table to take payment or if you go up to the counter, but I just went up myself — no hassle at all.
To top it off, I was given a 20% discount as there was a promotion running. Always a nice surprise! I’ll definitely be coming back here again.
Overall, my lunch at The Olive Grove Restaurant was such a nice experience — cosy, relaxed, and genuinely tasty food. It’s a small spot, so timing is everything, but once you’re in, it’s worth it. The staff were friendly, the pizza was delicious, and the whole vibe just made me feel comfortable. If you’re ever in Wimbledon and craving some proper stone-baked pizza, I’d definitely recommend giving this place a go.
Thanks again for reading — and as always, I’m still learning and growing with each post.
