My Experience Seeing Kumar Sanu Live in Concert – De Montfort Hall, Leicester
I had booked tickets to see the legendary Kumar Sanu live in concert, and as someone who genuinely enjoys Bollywood music, I was really looking forward to the evening. For those who might not know, Kumar Sanu is a leading playback singer best known for his timeless Bollywood film songs from the ’90s and early 2000s. The concert took place on 16th February at De Montfort Hall in Leicester, with doors opening at 6:00 PM. I paid £63.50 for my ticket and also decided to pay an extra £10 for parking, which was definitely worth it—it meant I could park close to the venue without any hassle.
Arriving Early and Getting Settled
I arrived at the car park around 5:00 PM to make sure I could get a good space. I had read online that if you arrive late, it’s possible you might not find parking or be redirected to another car park. Luckily, I was early enough and got a decent spot. There were already a few cars there, and loads more arrived after me. De Montfort Hall has a capacity of around 7,000 people, so I knew it would get busy.
What really stood out was how well-dressed people were—it made me feel like this was going to be a really classy night out. The walk from the car park to the venue was about 5 minutes. It was well signposted, and honestly, you could just follow the crowd. Once I got to the venue, bags were checked at security and we were scanned before entry, which felt very professional and safe.
When I booked my Kumar Sanu concert ticket, I had the option of collecting it at the box office or choosing an e-ticket. I went for the box office collection—something about having a physical ticket feels special. I’ve even seen people frame their tickets as keepsakes, and I might just do the same.

Getting Ready for the Show
Once I collected my ticket from the box office, I waited around the foyer until the doors opened and we could head inside to take our seats. One tip I’d definitely give—go to the bathroom beforehand! During the interval the queues can be massive, and it’s just easier to get it out of the way early.
When the doors finally opened, I made my way to my seat. There were plenty of staff on hand, which was really helpful in case you weren’t sure where to go. Everything was well-organised, and the atmosphere was already buzzing with excitement.
Settling In
I had a good view of the stage and was all set for the show to begin. When I go to concerts, I always cross my fingers that I don’t get someone tall sitting right in front of me—haha! Otherwise, I end up turning my neck at a weird angle for a couple of hours. Thankfully, I got lucky this time and had a clear view.

The Build-Up and Grand Entrance
There were a couple of support acts to get the crowd going, which added to the fun and helped build the excitement. It’s always nice when there’s a bit of a warm-up before the main show starts. After about an hour of waiting, the moment finally arrived — Kumar Sanu made his entrance. To everyone’s surprise, he appeared behind the audience and walked down the stairs, shaking hands with fans as he made his way to the stage. It was such a personal and down-to-earth entrance — the crowd loved it!

A Night of Greatest Hits
I was genuinely so impressed — Kumar Sanu was singing all of his greatest hits, and it felt like hit after hit just kept coming. Songs like “Tujhe Dekha To” from DDLJ, “Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai”, and “Ladki Badi Anjaani Hai” had everyone swaying and singing along. I found myself smiling the whole time, fully enjoying the moment. The energy in the room was incredible, and you could tell the crowd was absolutely loving it too. It was like a big singalong with a touch of nostalgia — classic Bollywood at its best!
Capturing the Moment
Unfortunately, the video I took doesn’t really do the night justice — but I hope it gives you a little snapshot of what I was feeling. I ended up taking a few more clips during the concert. I must admit, I did get a bit carried away in the moment, so apologies if some of them are a bit wonky! But when you’re enjoying live music that much, sometimes it’s less about the perfect shot and more about soaking it all in.
A Personal Touch to End the Night
Kumar Sanu also brought his daughter onto the stage, which was really lovely to see. It added a nice personal touch to the concert. After around three hours of incredible music, the show came to an end. An announcement was made for those who had booked the Meet and Greet experience — this was their moment.
For the rest of us, if you went near the stage, you had a chance to shake Kumar Sanu’s hand. At the time of this concert, there had been some controversy around how certain Bollywood singers interacted with fans, so it was quite funny when Kumar Sanu joked, “I’m only shaking hands and nothing else.” It got a good laugh from the crowd and made the whole night feel a little more personal and memorable.

Heading Home After the Concert
There was a big rush to get out once the concert was over — no surprise really, everyone’s trying to beat the traffic and avoid the crowds. I wasn’t in a rush at all, but with such a large audience leaving at the same time, it did take a bit of time to get out. That said, it was all very orderly and well managed, which made things easier.
Final Thoughts on the Kumar Sanu Concert at De Montfort Hall
Overall, I had a brilliant time at the Kumar Sanu concert at De Montfort Hall in Leicester. From the amazing setlist featuring classics like Tujhe Dekha To, Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai, and Ladka Yeh Kehta Hai, to the vibrant atmosphere and great crowd — it was a night to remember. The venue was well organised, parking was stress-free, and it was great to see Kumar Sanu bring his daughter on stage too.
I will say, the interval felt quite long and there were a few noticeable gaps between some of the acts, which slowed the momentum slightly. But overall, it didn’t take away from what was a fantastic experience. If you’re a fan of Bollywood music and get the chance to see him live, I’d definitely recommend it. I’d go again in a heartbeat!
